random @ Bute's

Bute Park, October 2005

the shots here were taken just before winter proper set in. Bute's is actually the heart and lungs of cardiff, it being located just a short distance away from senghennydd and town. At one end is the Cardiff's Castle, while at the other you can find a small horse's stable. In between is the sports centre equipped with a hockey turf, a rugby stadium and a bowling alley as well! With the River Taff running through the park, this makes it a hugely popular spot for anglers. Having said so, seeing fishes migrating upwards, jumping across a man-made "step" and witnessing people tracking the fishes using antenneas (just like in National Geographic) is really rewarding indeed! Furthermore, the park is dotted by numerous rugby-cum-football fields, and needing only about 45-odd minutes to circle the park; it's wonderfully compact but reasonably large for hosting celebrations such as "Bonfire". 'really love this park! =P

random shots of snow

Clockwise, from top LHS:
1. me at Alexandra Gardens
2. a failed attempt to make a snowman before my fingers 'froze'
3. snowmarks along the pavement of Park Place Road
4. snow-proof shrubs
5. the cenotaph at Alexandra's

it snowed in cardiff !! and for me, that was the 1st time i saw snow! so surreal man! Awesome!! but, heck, the cold was really unbearable.....yeah, Dr Bedwani (excitable tissue lecturer) was right regarding slow reacting receptors.....my fingers were literally frozen juzt after 3 swipes when i tried to make a reasonable snowman with my bare hands. could'nt feel my poor phalanges for sometime! (blame the tonic receptors!) Can you believe it, Cardiff actually snowed before many other places! So, why bother going Edin et al? haha!!=)

the 'Banana Cake' project......

well, i reckon this was quite a successful project, i would say, as in spite of the fact that i was'nt exactly too sure of the right proportion of ingredients for the banana cake, it turned out pretty well though..and we managed to make altogether 4* trays!! sold off 3 trays during Bazaar Syawal for a song, and still had more* to share around. I salute Amy Beh for her tried-and-tested recipees!=P

Cardiff City Hall Tower

A view of the Edwardian 194 foot high clock tower, with the star-lit christmas lights. The official lighting-up of town coincides with the opening of Winter Wonderland, the main attraction which is the open-air ice-rink outside the lawn of City Hall.

Winter Wonderland

well, there were some ladies on stilts gaily walking round the very party-like atmosphere outside Cardiff's City Hall just before the the lighting-up of Christmas lamps.
