Week #1

Countdown to Penang Bridge Half Marathon: 30th July

Monday
: 15 mins , with loads of panting
Tuesday: 20 mins of slog
Wednesday:
Thursday: Wheeling (with interruptions) & badminton
Friday: Chilling; recovery after surgery
Saturday: 20 mins continuous wheeling
Sunday: Defying gravity with 2/3 usual contribution in the hills; nevertheless a great wake up call!; wheeling

Verdict: Needing more full-hearted effort. Extreme heat and humidity, coupled with the ungodly-houred world cup matches has derailed original schedule. Geez. Adaptation n acclimatisation is taking longer than expected. Must buck up!

The sweet smell of hOmE ~.~

Sentimental, random feelings and thoughts, sadness, sense of belonging, relief, cursings, gung-ho-ness, jiwang, don-da hei aseous?, not yet drunk, but acting drunk!

Reminiscing about the past 9 months in the west-north sector of planet earth seems so surreal. Things have revolved so fast; it felt that it was just yesterday when i arrived at the airport, leaving the comfort of home, friends and relatives which have been a mainstay of my previous chapter of life . Putting everything on stake for a complete switch to a full-fledged university experience. Leaving on a jet plane to a land far, far away where the dragon and Giggs reign supreme. And i remembered it was just a few weeks back then when i was hankering for the exams to be over... now that the results are out (though still awaiting the verdict for a further 2, barring any mishaps), 2nd year beckons; the wait to get home which seemed an eternity is now exactly a week away only! And today is D-day where i shall be shifting out of J-10-1 (always seem to land the 1st room though) , fronted by a 3 tiered shelf, a real, proper closet of my own to store my junk (never had that in my home) , flanked by a right-hand-sided window overlooking some wonderful greenery, sprinkled with loads of chicks during summertime! Though home here is bliss, but going home is indeed shang-ri-la! Wowweeee! 1st thing i would do is to have loads of roti canais! TV all day long! Cheap cinemas! Mamak-king all night out! And running , running, running like there's no other running day! No more drinking for awhile though :P
Will definitely get bored once the euphoria sets in ( im giving myself 3 weeks the most), but there's just hell of things to catch up! And the break is gonna be the time when you reflect on what you have achieved so far, what you have been taught but never seems to imprint itself permanently, how wonderful silver linings may still shine through however dark a cloud may be, what you hope could have been but never would be, how surprising sometimes one could really let loose and be a child one never remembered all over again, the time where celebrations and palpatations are all part and parcel of the full 1st year medical school experience, how the thrill of shopping and obtaining the best deal (which leads to further best deals) can really take one around on a mini witchhunt with severe financial implications, and how a guy can actually accumulate junk even more than the ladies! Heck, can't believe that i'm here in the 1st place! Never in my faintest thoughts that i would chance on an adventure so far away just for the sake of education. And that was 1st year! Still hoping to come through in a single piece, eventually emerging as a man-in-white with the stethoscope who straightens the wellbeing of others! Hmm, and start earning $ $ ^^.

Till 2nd year, hopefully :P
Cheers to all who made this happen!

colours of sunset, unedited

the colours of sunset, originally uploaded by zhuangli. Snapshot from 2100hrs-2300hrs immortalised: 01/02/2006, Senghennydd.

Yeeha! And then, exams were in the past! The feeling, indescribable! Wow, 1st year has passed with just a stroke of the hour hand(2 strokes actually). So many things have happened, numerous experiences and acquintances have made my life all the more wiser, living away from home and surviving on self-prepared meals without any observable malnourishments so far, surprises me too; it all felt like it was just yesterday that i decided the path which places me where i am now. Though the first hurdle's outcome has yet to be announced , nevertheless a huge sense of relief & completion has totally overwhelmed me. For the 1st time here, i could actually breathe normally. I mean it! Time flies, especially if you are bogged down with a ceaseless supply of courseworks and assesments, and the ever so random nature of attachments, and they were planned such that it trickles, a trickle which does'nt stop! Even the anatomy exam's powerpoint examinations were scrupulously testing one's ability perform in split second situations (45 secs per qs!!). I was literally squirming in my seats when the slides flipped over, not hesitating even for a second more (for people like me-la!). I just wished time could pause for me, but it just speeded like speedy gonzales! For now, that is, the tachycardias, sleeplessness and neverending complaints (sorry dude*) will be temporarily sidelined; time and energy shall be diverted to chilling out, lepakking and counterstrike-ing, just like how life back home used to be! And heck, i really have to get back to shape physically. There's no two ways about it. Had my 2nd muscle cramp here today, and now it occured while we were having a friendly, yet competitive, drama-packed football session among the dolls and guys! Wahlao, really paiseh lah. In front of HoT chicks somore!! *shy*shy*. And to think that i would be attempting the Cardiff Marathon in exactly 19 weeks time is seriously laughable! Another round of laughs for me please! Drumm rollllssss!!! HAHahahahh! So, well, the ultimate thing now is for me to hopefully emerge intact from my 1st battle in the wilderness, land of no one; next is to prepare myself physically and mentally for the upcoming 42k challenge of mind over matter! And 3rdly......

*& dear Lav, if you do stumble upon this, your fantastic dinner warrants 5 michelin stars! I mean it! & you made my day! ehhehe! ^^
