on COLORS

Have you ever wondered why some people never see colours in the same way as others do? *colors, simple and sweet, yet has a very powerful connotation underlying it; why is it that people dress up in certain colors when they go support their football teams? Why do doctors dress up in white attire on rounds? On a deeper note, are we conscious of the color we are? Or are we inherently the color which we are thereby perceived by others? Why do some then find 'colors' a very tacky issue? Why do some discriminate against certain colors; why are others overly conscious by the 'colors' that represents the event*? Do you always have to comply to certain schema's? Did our parents actually inherit us certain color-biased genes ?? Then why is it still happening, especially here ??????*

^^colors are just something superficial; it is one's innermost self which is of utmost important, and not the perception others have on us^^

^^why?^^

Chinese New Year!! Year of the dog!

well, well, well....what a long day it has been; and im currently a bit drunk due to the copious consumption of red, white and a lil' irish cream! literally feeling drowsy and super blurr adi////officially, this is the most i've drank so far in my life; there's always a 1st for everything!
Haha! 1st cny abroad was'nt too bad though considering we managed to cater for 10 people with lots to spare- in my house, food is never an issue! we (me and wk) actually only started cooking at approx 5+ pm, and it was seriously an effort worth every grain of salt! vege were aplenty (chap-chai), roast pork, mixed vegetable chinese style, 2 pots of bak-kut-teh( even one pot kenot finish eating!), authentic kapitan curry(shuli's) , dessert by guy3, mohana and lavan...also, not to forget, a generous serving of bak-kua all the way from msia, courtesy of lavan! ooh//how i miss home-cooked food!=)

All in all, was a really fantastic night! a great way to usher in the year of the dog! and i seriously need to buck up on my drinking skillls...'beh pee weikang la'!!
cukup buat masa ini...kena tidorrr.....badan sudah KO!
**ang pau ang pau anybody?=P

* and i'm officially 5 mths 'pregnant' as well! my bulging tummy signifies a prosperous year ahead!
* though i must admit i was a wee bit tipsy then, i still was'nt mincing my words**

tURkeY Galore before and during Christmas!

from top-bottom:
1. 1st turkey experiment done at Senghennydd to feed 4 (approx 4.2kg); with homemade stuffing, brussel sprouts, calvin's special roast potatoes and turkey soup, and of course weikang's toil and sweat as well!*and guess who just came over and 'tapau-ed' all our hardwork*^^* you know who...
2. 2nd turkey project at London (as i promised zijian); a fantastic end-product as can be seen by the golden-crisp-brown skin (roasted for 5hrs at 180'C, as recommended by ToM, the official welsh chef!) and magnificently carved after that by the master-cleaver beetee~! A 7kg whopper!
3. layout of the pre-christmas trial celebration at senghennydd (my house)
4. Christmas dinner at zijian's with KDU peeps and the City U gang!=P

random shots around the City Hall avenue b4 my camera battery died=P

WoRk, WorK, WORK!!!!!!

Hahaha! Owh well, ethics exam flew past adi..and the prognosis wasnt that good et all; a really hard paper, kenot actually explain as they questioned us about specific laws (hey, how would we all know that its the 'health and social care act 2001'?), which i must say is not really fair-la! there was a senior last who studied all the booklets in-out; and he got 35%; another read nothing (or so he claims) and he too got 35%!! conclusion: why did i waste the whole weekend piling myself with unnecessary facts???=P

Anyhow, the weather this week has became considerably colder. cant understand why, but ppl say its because february is approaching and it's supposed to be the coldest month of all. but, on a brighter note, the sun is setting later again already! which means, usual jogging routine can be resume!
CNY is approaching too; it's only a matter of days (4 days in fact) before the Year of the Dog beckons! but then again, the festive atmosphere is not felt at all; everyone seems to be drowned by the never-ending load of work which just multiplies exponentially, i mean LITERALLY! there's no chance for us to stop and think; the continous knowledge bombardment occurs everyday, and one has to always update and strengthen what has been taught on that day in order to have a rough framework of future lessons. it's getting a bit burdensome at times, but thats life>^^
well, there would be another msn discussion on saturday itself(CNY eve) for our upcoming clinical intergrative assesment, which means another saturday gone. have to prepare for exam on Monday too (sunday gone like that la!) Must prepare for human structure presentation also.......=( Never plan what to cook yet; weikang suggested we all prepare a dish each and eat together-gether la////a bit the depressing lor....... well, 1st new yr abroad is not how i expected it to be la. but then again, alevel's examination also has never been kind to Deepavali in Malaysia; must learn a thing or two from guy3 .....=)

What else can i say......owh, i just received the parcel of long-awaited home-shirts from my mom. and there was the Pacesetters shirt which Francis presented me b4 i left for cardiff....maybe he was hoping that i brought it along and get some free publicity done in UK! Haha!!Anyways, i wore that to class this morning (as a matter of fact, it looked like the current Arsenal jersey) and got a few glaring stares( that's exactly what i intended to do) ^^, but nevertheless it shows my identity of origin, and i must say im proud of being a Malaysian, always have, always will!! Malaysia Boleh!
*on looking thru the website, there's so many runs which i would love to participate this year at home! oooooo, really miss the tropics!!

* and to all at home, recieved your nature-friendly CNY card already! makes me think of home too sometimes............ ^^
*also, thanks chim-pooh and chek-kong for the greetings too! means a lot to me!=P

>>will publish the winter holiday pictures soon, if i manage to find some time!

**one last thing, ever wonder why some who msns online, put status as (busy), and actually hope that ppl wont kacau...and get pissed when ppl msg them>>>cacat rite? might as well dont go online la!!**i oso a bit the sesat one smtimes=)#######

on pre-EThiCs exam prepartion.....or just the lack of it?

owh well, it's almost time to call it a day already for me. not too good i would say the ammount of effort which i was trying to cram within the past 2-3 days.. ethics, ethics, ethics; why do we have to slog all out it in the 1st place? one thing for sure, i'm not a huge fan of terminologies, ie 'advance statements', 'competency in making decisions', 'anonymizing patient's data', 'Gellieck competence' etc. owh well, i already damn tulan going thru the whole stack of never-ending GMC booklets on ethics. the thing with ethics is that, it's not really an issue of moral righteousness; moreso a legal framework which we all have to abide.....so why call it ethics in the 1st place? Beats me too!! and they say in the UK , a child of 16 years of age can actually decide which course of treatment he prefers, if he posseses the mental capacity to do so! won't all teenagers envy that? Can veto parents already leh! ^^*Must also thank Alan for setting up the small discussion on MSN in the afternoon; really riveting as it showed where i was lacking, and how many lightyears the rest of the medics were ahead of me! haha!! but then again, i was'nt too tension also before that; only until then, the pre-exam 'dinosours' set in....... Then again, i had to pass the Man Utd-Liverpool derby commentary on BBC... well, mebe their win today was attributed to my non-tuning in, cos the week b4, against man city, they actully lost while i was following it, and today, msia lost in badminton oso.......very wierd hor:)

nevertheless, Malaysia lost the in the finals of the ALL England Badminton, AGAIN! a real dissapointment, considering we managed 3 pairs in the semis! I was actually following the match online *; 1st set they lost, 2nd set i tot they would loose also, but a brief moment of magic allowed them to return from the brink of defeat (4-13) to register a 17-14 triumph! Unbelievable! Luckily, Shak came online (he woke up at the right moment), i really could'nt concentrate on continuing reading stale 'human respiratory' from Pococks; i then rushed to his ever-inviting house for the god-sent TV (*score only, talk about who's nearer to Birmingham; my bro was following it LIVE et home!). Was supposed to go to Bute's to have a taste of the cardiff's XC (cross-country), but i sacrificed it for the sake of Malaysia....and was it worthwhile? Hmmm..of course, i have'nt seen a malaysian in action (on TV) in any sport for ages, but i would say Choong-Lee was a dissapointment, especially tanfook. Kind of perculiar as LeeWanWah is the one who always succumbs to final jitters.....they could have given the Danes a meatier encounter, but it was a great comeback journey for them anyhow. Pat on the back for the other 2 pairs, Fairuzizuan-Lin and Gan-Zakry, and not to forget Chongwei too, who showed great spirit though falling to LinDan eventually.

Lastly, sipping Irish cream while listening to Josh Groban/Il Divo makes a very delectable mix indeed to pull thru the night!

oklor, tomolo(today) must wake up later oso.......zzzzZZzzZZZzz^^

on JEALOuSY

HMmmm.....jealousy...make a footnote of that** According to the Wikipedia encyclopedia, jealousy is "an experience one percieves that another person is giving something that he/she wants is due to them".The word stems from the French word, jalousie, formed from jaloux (jealous), and further from Low Latin zelosus (full of zeal), and from the Greek word for "ardour, zeal" (with a root connoting "to boil, ferment"; or "yeast"), originally a condition of zealous emulation. It is interesting to note that we, the "imperfect" humans are never inherently far away from occasional flushes of jealousy, be it day, night, anytime et all! No matter how hard we sometimes try to delude ourselves by suppressing such emotions, nevertheless jealousy is part of life, will be and have always been. Why mention this at all? Well, a friend brought up the term just only, and it struck me that understanding the mechanics and feasibility of being jealous sometimes do make us think! And 'thinking' is something which i dont really fancy actually!=P imagine, all the cerebral pathway activated, then utilising a humongous ammout of hard-earned glucose available to set up a massive interneurone processing mechanism, weaving, zig-zagging, zapping( you can actually hear the brain whirring!) but our RAM wasnt just enough to process the magnitude of the emotion! won't that only be a serious waste of raw resources? But then again, if we are going to face such emotions, again, and hopefully not, again, may we then be prepared to not let jealousy overpower oneself. Nanti kang "mandi tak basah, tidur tak lena, makan tak lalu". The manifestation may take forms of all sorts u can ever imagine, the consequences are difficult to fathom! The distinction between jealousy and envy; well, it would not be wrong to say that most of the time, in a 'jealous' situation there would be a 3rd party; i agree that its moreso the desire of wanting to possess something which is 'owned' by another.....well, while 'envy' mostly deals with a desire for a general thing. Would there be also a chronic or acute jealousy? It's up to u guys to ponder. Hmm.......why am i still blabbering about this piece of crap?? I duno really; can't seem to get it off my mine though:(..............on a heavier note, here's an accompanying article with regards to sexual jealousy, a very thought-provoking reading indeed! Also, this link, from Amatuer Transplants has a quirky London UnderGround song (not for the faint hearted!thanks LuKe) and a curious mix of medico-related compositions by 2 drs themselves!

Lastly, something to reflect (click here) ^^
